Financial Assistance Application and
Award Process

Overview

1. Deadlines for Submission

  • New students should follow the deadline stated in their admission offer package.
  • Onboard students are required to submit a new financial assistance application every academic year, with the deadline being the final working day of February for the following year.

2. Steps to Apply

  • Applicants must complete the Financial Assistance Application Form and attach all necessary documentation. Applications that are incomplete or submitted past the deadline will not be considered.
  • The amount of financial aid awarded is determined by a point-based assessment, which evaluates the socio-economic details provided in the form and during interviews with the applicant and/or their parents

3. Evaluation by Committee

  • A Financial Assistance Committee, composed of both internal and external members, assesses applications. To maintain objectivity and confidentiality, the applicants’ names remain undisclosed during the review process.
  • The hospital may verify the information and documents provided by conducting its own inquiry.

4. Key Considerations

  • Submitting an application does not guarantee that financial aid will be granted.
  • Financial assistance is reassessed annually, and receiving aid one year does not ensure it will be provided in subsequent years.

5. Appeal Process

  • Students who are not satisfied with the committee’s decision may submit an appeal to the Student Financial Counselling and Assistance Office, providing additional documentation for reconsideration. Only one appeal is allowed per application, and the decision made after the review is final.
